Betting on backgammon could be fun, especially if you understand how to succeed by playing properly. But occasionally a hint or two might help you even more and make you a better competitor.
One of the better game plans to succeed is to block your opposition in. It will keep them from moving their pieces out of your home board. This has to be accomplished early in the match to keep your adversaries 2 pieces in your home boardthere. So you need to shift your pieces to points 7, five, and four as fast as possible and even 2 and three if you can. Maintain your point of six with the six checkers as it is. This will make sure that your opposition cannot will not be able to leave your home board and help your chances of locking them in to come out on top.
By barracading your opponent in, they’ll be hoping for double 6’s as soon as all other options have been made to get those 2 pieces away from your home board. If doubles are not tossed, your opposition will be required to move 1 piece at a time, as long as they toss a 6 or greater, and leave 1 piece behind and vulnerable. Of course in the process of veering off your own pieces, make sure you do not leave 1 by itself where your opposition can send you off the board to go through their home board.
When in doubt, hit. This can help you win largely because as soon as your challenger is hit, that piece is the checker they have to move before they can do anything else in the game. So if you hit them multiple times, they will have to return a number of checkers back to the board and get around your checkers to win. Make sure you don’t hit where it’ll make you open to getting hit yourself. Except of course when will be advantageous to you, like early on in the game when your opposition won’t have you blocked in.
Hitting when you have a lock started can also be great due to the fact that as soon as you get a couple of spots blocked, your opponent will have a difficult time getting their pieces away from your home board and winning. It’s even possible to hit them a number of times and get your block finished. That way you will be able to lock them from re-entering the game and even having an opportunity at beating you.
These 2 pointers aren’t the only way to win, but they’re excellent ideas for amateurs to become better players. Once you master these, succeeding most of the time won’t seem like such a demanding thing to do.
