The Essential Facts of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 2

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The aim is to shift your pieces safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move his checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game technique utilizes alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often used when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
